The Cranial Sacral Journey

Firat time getting CST or cranial sacral therapy I was not a fan, As with many breathing exercises in yoga, I felt as if it was simply doing thing and couldn’t possibly be doing anything valuable.

I said its too expense, not worth it and moved on.

While in my yoga anatomy training I learned about cranial sacral fluid and the sacred nectar of the body and of the brain, nurturing, enveloping, protecting the brain the spine and all the vital organs supporting the flow of energy from the top our our heads to the base of the spine.

I decided it might be worth another try and boy was I right. Reaching a heightened meditation experience the next few times I went for this therapy shifted my perspective and aligned my spine in a very freeing way! every time I went I felt lighter and lighter.

Is this not our chakra system or energy system? I tend to think yes.

Notice the Alignment.

Notice the upward and downward flow.

It’s ever so slight.

but you notice my mouth closing ands head tilting a few degrees to the right.

I lean in to my stroke(left) side.

According to John Upledger, D.O, O.M.M,

the man responsible for developing this cranial sacral therapy and author of Your Inner Physician and you says they named the body cranial sacral because in order to access the dura mater or the hydraulic system within you needed access through the bones of the cranium, the upper neck and the sacrum and the coccyx.

Dura mater often referred to as Dura defined by the NIH

It is one of the layers of connective tissue that make up the meninges of the brain (pia, arachnoid, and dura, from inside to outside). It is the outermost layer of the three meninges that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

A hydraulic system is liquid moving in a confined space under pressure.

Our bodies are an efficient machine, similar to a car.

Now when we look at a cars support system

“ The quantity or volume of cerebral spinal fluid inside the watertight dura mater membrane bag increases and decreases rhythmically at a rate of 10 cycles per minute.” according to Upledger.

Now when we look at a cars support system, we see how the ever so slight adjustment makes ALL the difference.

You wouldn’t drive your car out of alignment, would you?

Now why would you use your body without checking in on alignment?

Our body is a highly pressurized system, and specifically after an injury to the brain , it might be important to check fluid levels.
